Twenty-six extra-large global transactions have been announced this year, valued at a combined $671 billion, according to data from Dealogic. The results are a far cry from 2020, when just four big U.S. transactions, valued at $70.8 billion total, were announced over the same span. The Covid-19 pandemic, which put the M&A market on hold starting in March 2020, led to the dearth of large deals last year.
