Edgard Garrido/REUTERS Reuters, WASHINGTON, July 8 – According to the US Trade Representative’s Office (USTR), the US and Mexico agreed on Thursday to hold a fresh union vote at the General Motors (GM.N) Silao facility by August 20. According to the US Trade Representative, Mexico has agreed to a number of safeguards before to the vote, including the presence of Mexican federal inspectors and neutral international observers from the International Labor Organization at the site. After receiving a formal complaint from the United States Trade Representative, Mexico announced in May that it will investigate labor violations at a GM facility in central Mexico.
