The Dow slid 0.21 percent to 34,921.09 at the close of trading Tuesday, while the NASDAQ fell 0.11 percent to 14,717.26. The S&P 500 index declined 0.15 percent to 4,378.11.
The United States has the largest number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the world, with 33,854,110 cases and 607,150 deaths reported. India confirmed 30,874,370 cases and 408,760 deaths, whereas Brazil recorded 19,089,940 COVID-19 cases and 533,480 deaths. According to data provided by Johns Hopkins University, there were at least 186,846,570 cases of COVID-19 worldwide, with more than 4,032,630 deaths.

Sectors that are leading and those that are lagging

On Tuesday, shares in information technology rose by 0.5 percent. Exela Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: XELA), up 28 percent, and Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK), up 10 percent, were among the sector’s top gainers.

Real estate stocks declined 1.1 percent in Tuesday’s trade.

On Tuesday, JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) reported better-than-expected second-quarter results.
JPMorgan Chase reported quarterly earnings of $3.78 per share, which were higher than the $3.20 per share expected by analysts. The company’s managed sales was $31.39 billion, compared to $29.96 billion expected.
Equities are rising in value.

Orbsat Corp. (NASDAQ: OSAT) shares jumped 42 percent to $9.45 after the firm announced a partnership with Alibaba.com through its Global Telesat Communications arm. On the e-commerce platform, GTC will be a Gold-Supplier.

The stock of Red Cat Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: RCAT) increased by 43 percent to $4.26. Teal Drones, an automated aerial vehicle technology company, has agreed to be acquired by Red Cat Holdings.

Shares of Howard Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: HBMD) were also higher, rising by 28 percent to $19.97. Howard Bancorp will be acquired by F.N.B. Corporation for $21.96 per share.

Meridian Bioscience, Inc. (NASDAQ: VIVO) had its stock drop 21% to $17.77 after the business reported dismal preliminary third-quarter revenue.
Gatos Silver, Inc. (NYSE: GATO) dropped 20% to $15.43 on the company’s announcement of a 6.5 million share common stock offering, with 1.82 million shares tendered by selling stockholders.

Commodities

Oil rose 1.6 percent to $75.31 in commodity news, while gold rose 0.1 percent to $1,807.10.

Silver sank 0.6 percent to $26.07 on Tuesday, while copper declined 0.5 percent to $4.2935.

The Eurozone
Today’s European stock market close was generally negative. The STOXX 600 index in the eurozone increased 0.03 percent, while the Spanish Ibex Index plummeted 1.38 percent and the German DAX 30 fell 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the FTSE 100 in London fell 0.01 percent, the CAC 40 in France down 0.01 percent, and the FTSE MIB in Italy fell 0.50 percent.
In June, France’s annual inflation rate jumped to 1.5 percent from 1.4 percent the previous month, while Germany’s annual inflation rate was reaffirmed at 2.3 percent.

Economics

From 99.6 in May, the NFIB Small Business Optimism Index increased to 102.5 in June.

The annual inflation rate increased to 5.4 percent in June, up from 5% in May.

During the first week of July, the Johnson Redbook Retail Sales Index increased by 11.1 percent year over year.
