KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 6): If positive instances continue to rise, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will open two additional Covid-19 Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRCs) in the Klang Valley.
The two PKRCs will be located at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Dengkil in Selangor and the Grand Season Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, which suspended operations last year, according to Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali.
“The UiTM PKRC will have a capacity of 1,200 beds. This will undoubtedly assist in offloading the main PKRC as well as hospitals where bed utilization is at an all-time high,” he remarked while appearing as a guest on “The Nation.” “Today, Bernama TV broadcasted a live show titled Malaysia and the Covid-19 Battle.
He added that the ministry had set aside PKRCs for foreigners in private hotels like as the Royale Chulan Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and a resort in Bangi, but that they are responsible for paying for them.
MOH is also enhancing capacity at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang, Hospital Selayang, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Specialist Children’s Hospital, according to Dr Noor Azmi.
He added the ministry expects more companies to join the Public-Private Partnership Covid-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (PIKAS) to scale up vaccinations, which can minimize the number of cases and severity of infections, given the various workplace clusters./nRead More
