Only critical crew members were allowed to move throughout the ship during the three-night World Dream “cruise to nowhere” in Singapore. Prior to boarding the cruise, the guest had performed a quick antigen test, which came back negative, however contact tracing revealed that the guest was a close contact of a proven Covid-19 case. The guest was immediately quarantined and tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, according to Dream Cruises, which is owned by Genting Cruise Line. Other passengers on the ship were reportedly restricted to their rooms at 1 a.m. local time, according to a Reuters story. Around 8:30 p.m., the passengers began disembarking from the ship. The traveler’s travel companions have all tested negative for the virus, and they will disembark on a separate route from the rest of the passengers, as well as those who came into touch with the guest. The individual who tested positive was allowed to disembark hours before the rest of the passengers and crew. Tracking guests’ wearable gadgets, keycards, and CCTV footage was used to undertake contact tracing. All other passengers must fill out contactless self-check-out papers before leaving their accommodation and must take a quick antigen test before disembarking at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, according to the firm. The guests must remain in their cabins until the crew calls them to disembark, according to Dream Cruises. According to Dream Cruises, the ship had 1,646 passengers and 1,249 crew members on board. A two-night World Dream trip that was planned to depart on Wednesday has also been canceled by the cruise line. Since sailings from Singapore resumed in November 2020, this is the cruise line’s first positive Covid-19 test. As of July 11, the World Dream had 103 sailings with over 130,000 passengers. A suspected Covid case led over 1,700 guests on a Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas cruise to isolate in their cabins for more than 16 hours in December./nRead More
