The Original Orange Chicken isn’t all there is to it. Panda Express and Beyond Meat are the sources for this information. On July 26, Panda Express announced that a Beyond Meat orange chicken dish will be available in certain New York City and Southern California stores. Panda Express will be the first Asian concept restaurant to offer Beyond Meat as an option on the menu. Beyond the Original Orange Chicken is a limited-edition meal that will only be offered while supplies last. Beyond’s plant-based chicken is paired with Panda Express’ trademark orange sauce in this meal. Beyond Meat has been testing chicken substitutes with Yum Brands’ KFC, and meat-free chicken tenders were introduced last week in over 400 U.S. stores. Beyond Meat stopped making its original chicken replacement in 2019 to focus on its Beyond Burger. Panda Express currently has eggplant tofu, chow mein, and vegetarian spring rolls on its menu, but it is hoping that the additional item will attract more customers. In a statement, Jimmy Wang, executive director of culinary innovation at Panda Express, stated, “We recognize guests’ tastes and preferences have evolved, and [they] turn to us for variety.” “Introducing plant-based proteins to our visitors and possibly attracting a new audience for Panda is a terrific and accessible approach to bring plant-based proteins to our guests,” Wang added./nRead More
