KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 5): For inspections at roadblocks, those in the logistics and transportation sectors can continue to use travel authorisation letters issued under the SMILE system (Sistem Maklumat Industri Logistik) from June 1, 2021 onwards.
This comes after the execution of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in many sub-districts and localities in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur from July 3 to 16, as well as the publication of the National Recovery Plan, according to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) (PPN).
“The most recent letter, which includes revisions to account for the transition from MCO to PPN, can be obtained today through the SMILE system at https://application.mot.gov.my. The letter is available for download by industry participants “It was said.
According to the statement, non-essential commodities loading and unloading activities would be permitted only in non-EMCO zones (nationwide), based on the existing standard operating procedure (SOP).
It is confined to warehouse enterprises in areas under the EMCO only because they provide a network of services to ports and airports, which is clearly permitted in the EMCO’s Selangor SOP.
Loading and unloading activities are confined to organizations included on the EMCO’s list of essential services for industries other than warehousing.
The warehousing industry, it argued, was not subject to the essential goods operational constraints because it solely supplied storing and offloading services of finished goods to the port “The activities of the warehousing sector do not include any manufacturing. As a result, the warehousing industry can continue to function without limitations on the sorts of important and non-essential commodities that can be stored “It was stated.
Sea, air, and ocean transportation; goods and public transit; and ports and airports are among the vital services permitted for the transportation and logistics industry, according to the statement.
Off-dock/on-dock depot services; free trade zone cargo disposal, ship supplies, and clean water supply; courier/p-hailing services (delivery of products via private and commercial cars); and public transportation terminal services are also permitted./nRead More
