KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 2): If Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin fails to make any announcements pertaining to the Parliamentary conference before next Monday, Pakatan Harapan’s presidential council has asked all Members of Parliament (MPs) to attend Parliament on Monday, July 19. (July 5). The Pakatan Harapan presidential council claimed in a statement today that the Prime Minister and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, have committed treason not only against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA), but also against the Conference of Rulers.
“The Pakatan Harapan presidential council carefully considered and considered the Palace statement on June 29. This is a historic declaration because it is the third time His Majesty YDPA has stated his belief that a Parliament session can and should begin shortly. The Presidential Council also looked into the media announcement made by the Speaker of the Senate and Yang di-Pertua Dewan Rakyat on June 30, 2021, in which it was requested to the Prime Minister that a special session of Parliament be conducted before August 1, 2021.
“However, we regret that the Prime Minister and the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) have yet to make any declaration on tangible efforts to uphold His Majesty’s order in relation to the session of Parliament as soon as feasible before August 1, 2021,” the council added.
The opposition leader also feels that a Parliamentary session should be held before August 1 to discuss the Covid-19 pandemic situation, as well as His Majesty’s earlier announced Emergency Proclamation, Emergency Ordinances, and National Recovery Plan.
“The purpose of this (parliament session) is to guarantee that effective measures are made to combat the spread of Covid-19 as well as to address the economic and social difficulties that the people confront on a daily basis.”
“People are in such a desperate state now that there have been suicides and some have flown the ‘White Flag.'” The council emphasized that “this parliament must focus on public needs, not political matters,” referring to a campaign in which persons in need are encouraged to fly a white flag so that aid can be directed to them.
In a statement, Takiyuddin stated that Cabinet will reconvene before the expiration of the state of emergency on August 1.
According to him, the Cabinet will finalize the topic during a meeting on July 7.
