KOTA KINABALU, 10 JULY: Under the Public-Private Partnership Covid-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (PIKAS), which began today, Sabah hopes to vaccinate 18,000 workers from 407 manufacturing facilities.
The launch of the industrial vaccination facility (PPVIN), according to Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor, will help speed up the vaccination process for workers in the industry, particularly in the Putatan, Penampang, Papar, and Tuaran districts.
“This is part of the government’s efforts to guarantee that the people (of Sabah), particularly industrial workers, are vaccinated,” he said after touring the PIKAS PPV at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) today.

According to Hajiji, immunization is offered free of charge by the government through PIKAS, while the PPVIN is managed by the private sector.
He stated that employers are responsible for their employees’ vaccination costs and are not permitted to deduct them from their wages.
