FRANKFURT: Porsche AG announced on Friday that it will recall 43,000 of its electric Taycan cars due to faulty software that can force the battery-powered engine to shut down unexpectedly. According to the firm, the recall affects all Taycan vehicles made and delivered by June, and the cars will receive a software update to correct the problem. Last year, the Taycan was introduced.
Porsche CEO Klaus Rechberger told journalists that the problem had been discovered in roughly 130 automobiles, but that no accidents had occurred as a result.
The Taycan is Porsche’s attempt to entice buyers to high-end electric vehicles. It is a low-slung four-door sports car with a range of 450 kilometers (280 miles).
Porsche, which is part of the Volkswagen group, stated that an over-the-air software upgrade would not be possible in this circumstance, therefore Taycan owners should plan on a one-hour trip to a local repair shop.
