KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 1): Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim has been named group Chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, while Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah has been named President/Group Chief Executive Officer, both of whom will take office on July 15, 2021.
Prasarana stated that the company’s mission to implement strategic transformation in the country’s public transportation system and drive economic growth, as well as being a catalyst to revitalise the commercial and business sectors, could be realized with the combination and close cooperation of these two figures.
“In the near future, Jamaludin and Azharuddin’s three main focuses will be on improving and enhancing overall operational efficiency, particularly in terms of safety and operational reliability; increasing the use of transportation services; and financial sustainability,” it said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, it was stated that Azharuddin’s appointment will bring synergy and perspective to the public transportation industry, based on his experience in both land and air public transportation.

Before retiring at the end of 2020, Jamaludin was the president and group chief executive of Axiata Group Bhd.
He brings almost 40 years of professional experience, including 16 years in information technology and 23 years in telecoms, to Axiata’s development from a government-linked firm to a widely respected telecommunications powerhouse operating in 11 ASEAN countries and South Asia.
Meanwhile, with his experience in the land and air public transportation industries, Azharuddin’s appointment as president and group CEO of Prasarana will give synergy and perspective in terms of public transportation, according to Prasarana.
From 2019 until 2021, Azharuddin was the chief transformation officer at Malaysia Airlines Bhd, where he was in charge of a portfolio that included the airline’s long-term transformation plan as well as the information and digital technology division.
