PUTRAJAYA, 5 JULY: The Cabinet has agreed to prolong the Recalibration Plan for Illegal Immigrants until December 31, or until the immunization program ends, in order to facilitate the implementation of the National Covid-19 Immunization Program.
Datuk Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, the secretary-general of the Home Ministry, said in a statement today that the topic was decided in a Cabinet meeting on June 23.
According to him, the meeting also decided to expand the recalibration plan to Sabah and Sarawak, subject to state government clearance.
The Return Recalibration Program and the Labour Recalibration Program are the two key components of the plan for managing and regularizing illegal immigrants in the country as legitimate foreign employees.
From November 16, 2020, until June 30, this year, the plan was initially implemented.
According to Wan Ahmad Dahlan, a total of 248,083 illegal immigrants had registered under the programme as of July 1.
He claimed that out of the total, 97,892 people had registered to return to their home country via the Return Recalibration Program, and 149,889 had registered under the Labour Recalibration Program./nRead More
