KUCHING, 11 JULY: A power outage was caused by a double circuit tripping of the 275kV Murum transmission line at around 9.30pm last night, affecting consumers in numerous districts of Sarawak.
Sarawak Energy Berhad said in a statement that Kuching, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Mukah, Sibu, Bintulu, and sections of Miri were among the locations affected.
It added that restoration efforts began right away, and that supply was gradually restored to impacted areas, with nearly complete restoration by 10.30 p.m.
According to the statement, “Sarawak Energy sincerely apologizes to our impacted customers for the difficulty caused by the outage, and is investigating the reason of the double circuit tripping on the Murum line that caused the disruption.”
