KUCHING (April 15): The whole of Sarawak will remain under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) until April 26, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
Uggah, who is also the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman, said five districts namely Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, and Meradong would also remain under CMCO.
He added at the moment, MCO would not be implemented in the State.
“SDMC’s main concern in the implementation of MCO is the ability and effectiveness of enforcement in a wider area.
“The CMCO implementation with clear standard operating procedures (SOPS) and strict enforcement is more effective in reducing and curbing the spread of Covid-19,” he said at a press conference here today.
Yesterday, the National Security Council (MKN) announced the implementation of MCO in the five districts in Sarawak, but the directive was withdrawn later.
Meanwhile, Uggah said SDMC will continue to impose the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in high-risk areas in Sarawak as it would be much easier to manage and implement, especially in areas under lockdown or targeted areas.
A total of 512 new Covid-19 positive cases and two fatalities were recorded in Sarawak today.
