ADB, Buskowitz sign $12m deal for rooftop solar project in PH

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Buskowitz Solar Inc., a subsidiary of Buskowitz Energy Inc, have signed a $12-million deal to support clean and affordable solar energy for commercial and industrial consumers in the Philippines.

The project will generate 88 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually and reduce 54,000 tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

The financing will support the development, construction, and operation of multiple solar panel systems on the rooftops of commercial and industrial buildings across several provinces of the Philippines.

The financing package also comprises a $24-million parallel loan from the Philippine National Bank (PNB).

Vietnamese food chain Homefarm, which is backed by Alibaba’s eWTP Technology and Innovation Fund, has raised $1.8 million from Japan’s Mitsubishi Foods, according to an announcement.

The proceeds will be used for renovation and expansion of its stores.

Founded in 2014 by Van Truong and his partners, Homefarm is a chain of stores selling imported food in Vietnam, combining modern shopping channels, online sales, and home delivery options.

Homefarm is a specialty imported food retailer known for fresh salmon, frozen beef, condiments like soy sauce, wasabi, and steak sauce, as well as popular ingredients for dishes like hot pot. It has grown from 10 to 161 stores in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (as of March this year).

In 2021, DealStreetAsia reported that Alibaba’s eWTP Technology and Innovation Fund invested an undisclosed sum in Homefarm.
