The SFC and its Canadian colleagues agreed to collaborate on a fintech framework. The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has agreed to establish a financial technology (fintech) cooperation framework with eight members of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA). Under the terms of the agreement, the SFC and CSA will share information and make referrals in their respective innovation functions. SFC CEO Ashley Alder remarked, “This agreement underscores the SFC’s continued focus on increasing regulatory collaboration with its peers and supporting financial services innovation.” Ontario Securities Commission, Autorite des marches financiers (Quebec), British Columbia Securities Commission, Alberta Securities Commission, Financial and Consumer Affairs Authorities of Saskatchewan, Manitoba Securities Commission, Financial and Consumer Services Commission (New Brunswick), and Nova Scotia Securities Commission are among the CSA members who have signed the agreement. The signing of this partnership comes after the SFC’s Fintech Contact Point and the CSA’s Regulatory Sandbox were both launched in March 2016 and February 2017.
