KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 6): SIRIM Industrial Research (SIRIM IR), the research arm of SIRIM Bhd, has formed an international advisory board to guarantee that it remains relevant in supporting the national objective on industrial technology development. SIRIM announced today that the council will be made up of industry professionals from Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East.
Datuk Ahmad Sabirin Arshad, president and group chief executive of SIRIM, said the standards research agency has also formed an advisory council focused on frontier technologies, such as artificial intelligence, robots, and nanotechnology, to boost the industry’s competitiveness and productivity.
“SIRIM is also aligning its research operations with the recently-launched National Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) policy, which aims to develop Malaysia into a high-income country by leveraging the most advanced 4IR technology and digitalisation,” he said in the release.
Meanwhile, SIRIM IR senior vice-president Mohd Azanuddin Salleh stated that SIRIM IR and SIRIM STS Sdn Bhd will continue to assist public and private organizations in improving their competitiveness in the five foundational 4IR technologies, which include artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain, cloud computing, and big data analytics, as well as advanced materials and technologies./nRead More
