NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Some Twitter employees in San Francisco and New York returned to the office on Monday (July 12), after more than 16 months of working from home, when the firm reopened its corporate campuses at 50% capacity in both cities. With COVID-19 immunization rates rising, prominent US IT firms are debating how and when to reopen their workplaces. Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., indicated that employees can return to the office voluntarily beginning in late July, while Apple expects staff to work from the office three days per week beginning in early September.
In the elevator, Twitter staffers swapped photographs of their breakfasts and took selfies. “I am more pumped than I anticipated to be,” one employee commented on Twitter, referring to the food and music at the social media firm’s San Francisco office. While some employees are ecstatic, the majority desire to spend as little time as possible at work. According to an internal corporate survey, 45 percent of staff in San Francisco and 63 percent of employees in New York want to return to work, even if only one day per week. The rest plan to continue working from home. Twitter is requesting confirmation of COVID-19 immunization for office entrance after announcing in May 2020 that workers might work from anywhere. Employees whose duties can be done remotely can continue to work from home indefinitely, according to the business. In a post, Twitter CFO Ned Segal stated that the business intends to help employees “whether on their sofa or in an office.” Twitter will continue to alter employee compensation based on the cost of living in their area, which is a factor for individuals who work remotely. Facebook and Google have both stated that they support location-based pay practices.
According to Twitter, the firm would decide when to reopen other locations based on COVID-19 infection and immunization rates in each area./nRead More
