At the outset, the S&P 500 (.SPX) climbed 3.2 points, or 0.08 percent, to a new high of 4,300.73. At the outset, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI) increased 4.8 points, or 0.01 percent, to 34,507.32, while the Nasdaq Composite (.IXIC) fell 10.3 points, or 0.07 percent, to 14,493.69.
