The major stock indices on Wall Street opened mixed on Tuesday.
In the face of falling crude oil prices, energy companies have taken a beating.
After the opening bell, technology stocks are trading in the green.
The major equity indices opened neutral on Tuesday after a lengthy weekend. The S&P 500 was down 0.2 percent at 4,343, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.37 percent at 34,658 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.1 percent at 14,741 at the time of writing.
The Energy Index is down 1.77 percent among the 11 key S&P 500 sectors, owing to a more-than-2% drop in crude oil prices. The FInancials Index, which is currently down 1.3 percent, is also being weighed down by the 2.6 percent drop in the benchmark 10-year US Treasury bond rate.
The Technology Index, on the other hand, is up 0.4 percent after the opening bell, making it the best-performing major sector. Market investors will be watching the ISM Services PMI for June later in the session./nRead More
