MUMBAI/TAIPEI — Indian conglomerate Tata Group will begin local production of Apple’s iPhones by acquiring a unit of Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Wistron.

Wistron said Friday it plans to sell its Indian subsidiary to Tata Electronics, with the price estimated at $125 million. Tata will take over Wistron’s plant in the southern Indian city of Bengaluru, local media reported.
