KUALA LUMPUR, 14 JULY: The Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) will fully cooperate with the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on concerns emerging from consultant audits performed between 2014 and 2020.
TH group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin said the government’s move to establish the RCI was noted and appreciated.
“TH believes that the investigation’s findings and the RCI’s recommendations will assist TH in improving its management and governance.”
“The governance, integrity, and reputation of TH as an Islamic financial savings organization are critical in ensuring the confidence of the people in the institution, particularly depositors,” he said in a statement today.
According to Amrin, TH has always sought to strengthen its operations and administration in the depositors’ best interests.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had previously stated that the Cabinet had agreed to establish an RCI under the Commissions of Enquiry Act 1950 (Act 119) to probe TH-related concerns.
He added that the RCI was necessary to ensure that an internal probe could be conducted in a transparent and trustworthy manner to confirm that LTH had carried out its mandate competently in managing Muslim deposits.
