THIS editorial is a follow-up to one I wrote for The Business Times on February 21, 2020, headlined “Why Companies Need Investor Relations.” After reading a report titled “The Changing Role of the Investor Relations Officer,” I became inspired. Bill McNabb, Dennis Carey, and Ram Charan collaborated on the book, which was published in the Harvard Business Review on May 20, 2021. Mr. McNabb is the former chairman and CEO of asset management Vanguard, Mr. Carey is the vice-chairman of consulting firm Korn Ferry, and Mr. Charan is a well-known author and business advisor.
