On July 24, TikTok announced the introduction of text posts, a new format for creating text-based content on the short video streaming app. With this expansion, users have the option to choose from three formats, “photo,” “video,” and “text” when they visit the “camera” page on TikTok. After selecting “text,” they are directed to the text creation page where they can type out the content of their posts. According to TikTok’s official announcement, users have access to various features for text creation such as stickers, tags and hashtags, background colors, the ability to add sound, and options for draft and discard. Currently, each pure text post on TikTok is limited to a maximum of 1000 characters. [TikTok statement]
