BEIJING — China’s largest chip foundry, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp., has promoted a vice chairman with deep ties to the government to chairman amid heightened tensions with the U.S. over technology exports.
Vice Chairman Liu Xunfeng replaces Gao Yonggang, who resigned over a “job adjustment,” according to SMIC’s announcement Monday. Liu started in his new post that day.
