REUTERS/File Photo/Umit Bektas ISTANBUL, Turkey (Reuters) – Turkish Technic, Turkish Airlines’ aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul division, announced on Tuesday that it is considering investment prospects in the Asia-Pacific region and has inked a number of agreements with Malaysian companies. Turkish Technic said in a statement that it signed a contract with Sapura Technics, a Malaysian repair and maintenance firm and a subsidiary of Sapura Resources Berhad, on Monday. “Through its investments in Malaysia, Turkish Technic intends to bring its approximately one hundred years of experience in the aircraft maintenance and repair business to this region,” the company said. Turkish Airlines CEO Ilker Ayci stated that the airline sought to enhance its capabilities, client portfolio, and investment and expansion activities, and that the carrier was “continuously” examining investment options in the region. Ayci stated, “We intend to grow our investments in the Asia-Pacific region.” “We feel that these expenditures would be extremely beneficial to our company and the civil aviation of our country,” he continued.
