KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 6): Turnpike Synergy Sdn Bhd stated it had fully paid all validated and verified claims submitted by Panzana Enterprise Sdn Bhd in connection with the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway’s Package CA4 project (DASH).
Turnpike stated in a statement today that any payment disputes by the Melima Consortium, a group of four subcontractors, should be brought to Panzana in compliance with Malaysian legislation.
This is because the four contractors are Panzana’s subcontractors.
“We have appointed solicitors to represent us in this matter moving forward in the event that the ‘consortium of four contractors’ elects to pursue any legal proceedings against Turnpike,” it said. “Turnpike is at all times firmly committed to resolving any contractual issues in accordance with Malaysian laws and the highest standards of corporate governance and transparency.”
Turnpike’s designation of Panzana as the main contractor for the work package was terminated by the latter on March 29 for different reasons, according to the express terms and conditions of Panzana’s contract with Turnpike.
Melima stated in a statement yesterday that it stands to lose RM100 million as a result of a legal battle between Turnpike and Panzana.
Despite having utilized its financial resources to finish 3.6km of the 4km elevated structure, the consortium, which was called in to “save” elements of the project, said it was compelled to cease construction work on the package in March this year.
Melima claimed it had not been compensated for its services.
