REUTERS: After failing to gain traction with users, Twitter Inc announced on Wednesday that it will shut down its Fleets ephemeral posts feature on August 3rd. The shutdown comes just eight months after the social media site made Fleets available to all of its users around the world, and just one month after it began testing advertising in the function.
Twitter said in a blog post on Wednesday that the number of new users submitting Fleets has not increased as expected.
