PUTRAJAYA, 2 JULY: The Vaccination Programme for the Agricommodity Sector (VACOMS) will open two industrial vaccination centres (PPVIN) in Selangor this month, according to Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali. The two PPVINs are located in Ladang Tennamaram in Bestari Jaya and the Fibre and Biocomposite Development Centre (FIDEC) in Olak Lempit, Banting, he said in a statement today.
The PPVIN at Ladang Tennamaram will focus on 6,400 workers in the oil palm plantation sector, while the PPVIN at FIDEC will target 7,800 workers in the wood sector, according to Mohd Khairuddin.
He added his ministry is pleased with the decision made by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) yesterday, which accepted the plantation and commodity sector as the PPVIN program’s fourth economic sector.
“The clearance issued by the CITF is an incentive that is eagerly sought by the industry in favor of the Government’s attempts to hasten the implementation of vaccinations to the frontline sections of the economy,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to industry players for their direct involvement in the operation of the PPVIN at Ladang Tennamaram, such as the Malaysian Palm Oil Association and Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, and the Malaysian Timber Council with the Malaysian Timber Industry Board for the operation of the PPVIN at FIDEC.
He stated that the next PPVIN to be established will be subject to CITF review and approval./nRead More
