NEW YORK — Profitability remains the watchword for investors in the U.S. market for initial public offerings after big listings in September as the Federal Reserve signals that it will keep interest rates higher for longer.

This selectivity could spell trouble for some Asian companies that don’t fit the mold of what investors are looking for.
