According to the US Geological Survey, several earthquakes struck Northern California within minutes of each other on Thursday afternoon. A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck between Walker and Coleville in Mono County, about 23 miles southwest of Smith Valley, Nevada, around 3:50 p.m. Since then, the USGS has recorded many more tremors in Mono, Tuolumne, and Alpine counties in Nevada and across the state line./n
