KUALA LUMPUR, 15 JULY: People over the age of 60 in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor who have not previously been vaccinated can stroll into any Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) without making an appointment for their vaccine. The walk-in technique would be extended to other States soon, according to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, who announced it today.
At a press conference, the Minister stated that at least one dosage of the vaccine has been given to 2.5 million senior individuals (aged 60 and up) across the country.
“We’d also like to let you know that in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Negeri Sembilan, industrial PPVs will be permitted to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“This is part of a larger campaign to increase immunization rates in the greater Klang Valley area,” he explained.
Dr. Adham also stated that GPs in Selangor will be able to administer Covid-19 vaccinations to persons over the age of 60 on a “walk-in” basis.
“The immunization program is open to a total of 2,229 private practices or GPs in Selangor and 1,254 GPs in Kuala Lumpur.
“Currently, a total of 700 GPs in the Klang Valley are assisting with the vaccination initiative,” the Minister stated.
When everyone is involved, the Health Ministry estimates that over 300,000 immunizations can be provided everyday.
Meanwhile, in response to the Kelantan Health Department’s recent announcement that it will stop dispensing the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine and replace it with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at all vaccination centers in the state, Dr Adham stated that Kelantan will receive a supply of Pfizer vaccine because it has previously received Sinovac vaccine.
“Our country has enough Pfizer vaccine because we import over 44 million doses of Pfizer vaccine vs 16 million doses of Sinovac,” he stated.
Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccination rate surpassed 400,000 doses for the third day in a row Wednesday, reaching 434,828 doses (July 14).
A total of 12.65 million doses have been distributed across the country.
Selangor had the most daily shots for first dosages yesterday, with 87,284, followed by Kuala Lumpur (48,343) and Sarawak (48,343). (21,484).
Sarawak had the largest number of daily jabs with 52,652, followed by Selangor (26,862) and Kuala Lumpur (26,862). (22,266)./nRead More
