KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 10): Coastal portions of many northern states in the peninsula are anticipated to be affected by thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds till Monday (July 12). Perlis, Penang, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), and Perak (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), and Perak (Kerian, Larut Matang and Selama).
According to the statement, “these scenarios have the potential to generate flash floods, particularly in low-lying areas, as well as damage to weak structures.”
Meanwhile, strong southwesterly winds of 50-60 km/h are forecast to blow across the waters around northern Melaka Straits during that time, with waves up to 4.5 meters high, posing a risk of seawater overflow on the shore and estuaries./n
