KUALA LUMPUR, 14 JULY: According to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the country would enter Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) in early August.
He stated this was based on the National Covid-19 Immunisation Program’s (PICK) results, which showed that the rate of people finishing two doses of vaccine had above the 10% level set for the country to progress from Phase One to Phase Two of the PPN.
According to him, this development indicates that the country is on its way to establishing herd immunity.
“This indication is in line with the National Recovery Plan, which predicts that by the end of July, the vaccination rate will have reached 10% of the population.”
“If this favorable trend continues, the entire country will be able to enter Phase Two in early August, just as the states have announced,” Ismail Sabri said today in a statement on the PPN and the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
According to PICK data, the percentage of those who have completed two doses of the vaccine was 11.8 percent yesterday.
On July 5, Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang joined PPN Phase Two, followed by Penang (July 7), Sabah (July 10) and Sarawak today (July 14).
Phase transition occurs after the three primary indicators’ threshold levels are met in PPN.
The number of daily Covid-19 cases must drop below 4,000 to progress into Phase Two, the rate of bed occupancy in intensive care units (ICU) must be mild, and 10% of the population must have gotten two doses of the vaccine jabs./nRead More
