A study commissioned by Zoom seems to point in that direction.

Four in five Singaporeans believe that everything will have a virtual component, with video conferencing taking on a huge role in the future of business and every other aspect of life, according to a new study commissioned by Zoom.

The study revealed that the most common uses of video conferencing by respondents in Singapore were for business (60%), education (58%) and events (53%). Telemedicine, which shot to prominence due to the pandemic, was used by 20% respondents, while approximately one in four users utilised video conferencing for fitness (24%) and one in five for financial services (22%).

60% of respondents used video conferencing for business purposes. Of these respondents, 71% plan to use a mixture of virtual and physical meetings to do business in the future. Business travel, on the other hand, will see reduced demand as 62% expected to travel less for work post-pandemic.

When asked about what they’d like to see in hybrid workspaces of the future, respondents mentioned open plan offices, hotdesking, split teams, and staggered timings as potential options. There was also a desire to have the workspace augmented with smart gadgets and technology like video conferencing solutions.

The study surveyed 7,689 respondents from the USA, UK, Mexico, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, India, Singapore and Australia were surveyed online from March 15th to March 26th, 2021. 512 of the respondents were from Singapore.
