(July 4) KOTA KINABALU: Yayasan Petronas committed RM4.6 million to provide digital gadgets with data connections to 1,726 students in Sabah and 118 students in Labuan to help kids from B40 families access online learning. From June 29 to July 2, the contributions were channeled through the district education offices in Beaufort, Kuala Penyu, Papar, Kinabatangan, Labuk and Sugut, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Pitas, Ranau and Tenom, as well as the Labuan Education Department, according to chief executive officer Nelly Francis Shariah.
“It is part of Yayasan Petronas’ commitment under the CERDIK Program, which is a government-linked company’s corporate social responsibility program to help students from low-income households access education in the new norm.”
“Our goal with our participation in the CERDIK Program is to provide kids with fair access to high-quality education, bridging the digital divide in learning,” she said in a statement today.
She stated that the CERDIK Program gadgets would fulfill students’ learning needs for three academic years and would come with data connections, technical assistance, and warranties.
“Under the CERDIK Program, Yayasan Petronas has delivered 12,000 devices worth RM30 million around the country,” he added./nRead More
