KUALA LUMPUR (March 30): The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) will look at the full report on the allegation by the United States that Top Glove Corp Bhd had used forced labour in its disposable glove production in Malaysia.

Its minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said MITI meanwhile, will continue to facilitate the industry to understand the requirement of Malaysia’s export market and to resolve any trade and investment related matters.

“We have not conducted any investigation yet and certainly we need to look at the full report. The ministry is looking to the details and certainly we will facilitate our industries.

“This is a domestic policy matter of the USA which our industries would need to comply with,” he told media on the sideline of the signing ceremony between Widad Business Group and Bin Zayed International LLC, today.

Mohamed Azmin said MITI had organised a series of reach out sessions to enhance understanding and create awareness of industry regulatory requirements of the export market including the USA.

According to an international news report on Tuesday, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Trade has published a forced labour finding against Top Glove Corp Bhd in the Customs Bulletin and in the Federal Register.

The US CBP has directed authorities at all US ports of entry to begin seizing disposable gloves produced by Top Glove.
