KUALA LUMPUR (July 12): Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh has been appointed chairman of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), confirming a report in the June 28-July 4, 2021 edition of The Edge weekly.

Mohd Bakke will take over the chairmanship of the national oil company from long-time Petronas man Tan Sri Ahmad Nizam Salleh, who has been appointed chairman of Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB), the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement today.

Both appointments will be made effective on Aug 1, the statement added.

“The government is continuing the programme to transform government-linked companies to remain steadfast and ready to face the post Covid-19 recovery phase in the new normal,” said the statement.

“The changes will be implemented from time to time,” the statement said.

Ahmad Nizam will, however, remain as chairman of the KLCC Group, PMO said.

“His experience in Petronas and in the management of key real estate in KLCC will bring a breath of fresh air into the direction and management of PHB in increasing bumiputera ownership of the nation’s commercial real estate,” it added.
