Set up RCI to probe allegations by Tommy Thomas and former IGP -- Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR (May 7): The government has been urged to establish a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the controversial allegations made by former Attorney-General Tommy Thomas and former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador recently.

UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he would calling Ministers representing UMNO to bring the message to the government for action to be taken.

“The revelations of the two former heads who led two important government organisations are very serious especially those involving political interference and corruption in the institutions which are the bastions to defend the supremacy of the Constitution, the rule of law and national security,” he said in a statement today.

He said the setting up of the RCI is aimed at speeding up the restoration of trust and confidence of the people on the institutions and system to uphold the rule of law and national security,

Ahmad Zahid also voiced support for the call of UMNO Youth in demanding the government to set up the RCI.

On May 2, in his last media conference as the IGP, Abdul Hamid made allegations of political interference in the police force.
