KUALA LUMPUR (July 12): Another RM500 million under the Geran Khas Prihatin (GKP) 3.0 will be disbursed to nearly one million micro, small and medium enterprises (micro-SMEs) starting from July 12, said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

In a statement today, Tengku Zafrul said the government remains committed to supporting businesses, especially micro-SMEs, during this challenging period.

“In this regard, one of the measures adopted by the government this year is the GKP 3.0 amounting to RM1.5 billion, or RM1,500 to each eligible micro-SME.

“Of this amount, RM1 billion, or RM1,000 per eligible micro-SME, had been disbursed in mid-June.

“Beginning July 12, an additional RM500, announced through PEMERKASA+, will be disbursed in stages to eligible micro-SMEs.

“The payments amounting to almost RM500 million, or RM500 to each micro-SME, will be credited directly to the bank account registered in the GKP system,” the minister said.

Tengku Zafrul added that under PEMULIH, announced on June 28, an additional GKP 4.0 payment of RM500 will be disbursed to each existing and new GKP recipient in September and November.

“For micro-SMEs that have never received a GKP payment before, GKP 4.0’s registration period will open from July 15 to July 31,” he added.

The minister noted that a total of RM6.08 billion has and will be channelled to almost one million micro-SMEs since Covid-19 struck the country.

“The government hopes that the direct assistance will continue to ease the burden of micro-SMEs, especially businesses that are not allowed to operate at this time,” he added.
